Ritey
Ok, so I know classics have the problem but was a little suprised when my housemate was trying to catch me up off a slip road onto the A34 in heavy rain and lost all power, managed to pull over, waited for 5 min, started the engine, it wouldn't go above 2000 rpm and crawled really slowly, limped to the next services, only a mile or so down the road, waited for the rain to stop, lifted the hod, dried everything and sprayed some WD40 here and there, and hey presto all was well again Did BMW intend to get this characteristic into the new Mini??? Anyone else with this kind of thing ?? Dave

geo_nr1
I know when the turbo (allbeit, partially)went on my GTI the engine management stopped using the turbo for the rest of the journey. The next day I got in it and hey presto....the turbo was working. Turns our there was a fault....is there a possibility that the Supercharger is broken and that BMW is similar to VAG and the way the item will not be used and therfore isolated? bazza_g
not sure if its related or not but my GF's 2001 Mini Cooper started to do some strange things - alarm going off, central locking messing about, windows not closing the final inch when shutting the doors etc. After some investigation and help from Mini it was put down to the 'body control module' which is located somewhere behind some trim in the drivers footwell near the 'fast' pedal. It appears that in some of the early Mini's this was not protected well enough in wet conditions and some water can 'ingress' and cause trouble. Mini have a cover then can fit to better protect this unit from water but I don't belive it was ever considered a big enought problem to deserve a proper recall. How old is the Mini in question ?? bazza_g
[ QUOTE ] 53 plate Mini One (cooper look a like) Dave [/ QUOTE ] I remember the BMW tech guy who came out to check the gf's car said that it should only affect the early 2001 cars - but it may still be worth asking about the body control module when it goes in for its next service ?
