Location of ABS module on A4 (B6) with CanBus

(I must stop replying to myself)...

I'm a bit concerned about performing this mod now... I'd like somebody with ABS knowledge to confirm whether it would be safe to put a switch on the speed pulse wire? Is it's only purpose to provide information to the nav system or will switching this signal off severely screw up other parts of the car?

I'm especially worried about this quote on the website;

"Once your car is back together, it would be a good idea to scan your ABS module with VAGcom to check for errors. You should also "test" your ABS brakes to ensure they function correctly."

Eek!

I had a brainwave... if the speed pulse goes down the CanBus, I could remove the canbus connectors from the satnav unit.

So that's what i did. Powered it on, went to select TV, and it said "No TV module installed". DOH!

Looks like I have two options;

1) Cut the ABS speed signal wire and risk my ABS not working

2) Build/find a CanBus filter which will allow me to "mute" the speed signal before it enters the headunit.

- Cut out dashboard to fit tft screen

- Cut out square in roof lining and ran cables for roof mounted tft screen

- Pulled out stereo and wired up a bluetooth phone kit

- Stripped CDChanger and rewired it to act as an AuxInput

- Built hard-drive based MP3 player and hooked up to TFT screen and CD-Changer Auxinput

- Put a VCR in the boot and hooked up to screens/aux input

... erm and some other stuff that I can't remember smile.gif
