russellfray
Hi, Can anybody tell me where the ABS mobule on the Audi A4 (B6, 2004) is located, and how to access it? Also if you know, which of the wires on the module provide the CanBus pulse information (which goes back to the HeadUnit to prevent TV activation whilst in motion)? Thanks, Russ. russellfray
Ah ha, the plot thickens... I think I'm going to crack it soon! http://www.tvwiz.net/navigation/a4b6abs.html
russellfray
(I must stop replying to myself)... I'm a bit concerned about performing this mod now... I'd like somebody with ABS knowledge to confirm whether it would be safe to put a switch on the speed pulse wire? Is it's only purpose to provide information to the nav system or will switching this signal off severely screw up other parts of the car? I'm especially worried about this quote on the website; "Once your car is back together, it would be a good idea to scan your ABS module with VAGcom to check for errors. You should also "test" your ABS brakes to ensure they function correctly." Eek!

russellfray
I had a brainwave... if the speed pulse goes down the CanBus, I could remove the canbus connectors from the satnav unit. So that's what i did. Powered it on, went to select TV, and it said "No TV module installed". DOH! Looks like I have two options; 1) Cut the ABS speed signal wire and risk my ABS not working 2) Build/find a CanBus filter which will allow me to "mute" the speed signal before it enters the headunit. UBM
Hi Russ, Have you ever bought a car and not done anything to it. If I even contemplate messing with mine the mrs seems to read my mind before i've opened my mouth - "you've not spent all that cash to have the car in bits"! nogaro
If the ABS don't work, you would get a "soft top" for free eventually. At the end of the day you could always reconnect the wires up again if it don't work.
John32
Had a recent play with CanBus trying to sort ICE in my A3 - what a nightmare. It turns out the CanBus also controls the illumination, display on DIS and even main power (unit switches off after an hour if the CanBus is not detected)
