andrew006
I have a 1999 Golf GT TDI (110bhp+tuning box)with 59000 miles on the clock. The car starts fine first thing in the morning but when it is hot and you have to start it, the car has to turn over 6 or 7 times before it will start (as if it isn't getting enough deisel). andrew006
Turns out to be a faulty temp sensor(news ones are green instead of black). The sensor is telling the car it is cold when it is really hot therefore sort of flooding the engine. £20 fix and is like new again!!!!!
Rustynuts
Hey mate, sorry I missed this post when you put it up. Might have been able to help, but glad you got it sorted out.
stuarto76
Got the same problem. Just went out and bought myself the temp sensor but can't find where to fit it. Any ideas?
Rustynuts
Here's a picture. Not sure if it's the right one as I don't know your car model.
stuarto76
Thanks for responding so quickly. I have got a 98 Golf TDI 110bhp. Will it be in the same location as the picture you posted?
Rustynuts
Should be, but you may not have the three "Coolant Glow Plugs" pictured fitted in the metal housing. Make sure, if you lose any coolant, not to use incorrect stuff to top it up. VW stuff only. But if you're clever and quick you shouldn't lose much. stuarto76
Found it okay but the sensor I bought has a different electrical socket size than the original. Original is blue new one is green. So back to the GSF to replace. Thanks for you help.
Tones92
Hi, My golf takes a lot of cranking to start when hot, I have seen it on this forum but need to know where the sensor is located and where I can buy 1 from.
