Zenyck100
Set off early this morning to miss all the traffic. Was off to look at a 53 plate, sliver R32 with cruise control, leather and sunroof. It was up for £21995 and wasnt expecting what i saw. I had a qucik glance around the car at the general condition and it didnt take long. Scratches and scuffs all over the place. no point going into detail as there were so many of them. One in particular was on the boot just below the window and this was very deep. someone had tried to touch it up but it needed filler!!!! The alloys had big chunks out of them not scrapes. i asked the sales guy who was the last owner and found out it was the services managers car. Inside was nice except for wear on the drivers seat which shouldnt be there. so all in all very dissappointed with the condtion of the car. sales guy said all those defects could be rectified but i could tell the car had been abused. so on to the next one. You would think that all the blemishes, scratches and scrapes would be all sorted prior to the car going on the forecourt, to try and look appealing to someone but not this time. They lost a potential sale because of the car looked abused and no effort had been made to make it look immaculate. The search continues............. activa
Complacent dealers seem to be everywhere. My Brother-in-law recently went to look at a 52 plate Mazda 6 TS5 at a Mazda main agent. The car was up for just under 14k and he was hoping he could get it for about 13-13.5k,not unreasonable thesedays. He told me he couldn't believe how bad it was.Scrapes, scratches and dents on every panel and the dealers answer was if you give us the full asking price we'll get the bodywork done for you. If you're gonna pay every penny of someones asking price why would you buy an abused example? You may aswell look at some more, find a minter, and then pay that guy all the money. Very sad that in these days when dealers are supposed to be struggling that they should be so slap-happy with the cars they put on the forecourt. At this rate, times may become even harder for them when people get wise and start buying privately for less money and sacrifice the warranty! R32Ash
[ QUOTE ] They lost a potential sale because of the car looked abused and no effort had been made to make it look immaculate. The search continues............. Zenyck [/ QUOTE ] It's good that they hadn't covered up the obvious signs of abuse. Otherwise you might have bought a nice looking car with hidden evidence of past carelessness. If they cared little enough to have dents and scratches all over the car, they're hardly likely to have looked after the mechancial side much better. From what I'm seeing and hearing, there are more and more abused examples appearing for sale now... Keep looking, you'll find the car you want soon enough! I know mine isn't the only totally unmarked R out there, so there must be some for sale too. Ash.
Valley_Boy
I had the same trouble before i managed to find my R32. I saw a Silver R32 at local VW dealer, which also happened to be a Manager's car - the car looked to have been abused, needed a good Valet and had a bad scrape on drivers side! Plus deal offered on my SLK was very POOR! So keep looking and be prepared to travel to find you're perfect car, it'll be worth it in the end. I was lucky and found mine at a local non VW garage and they gave me good deal on my SLK GOOD LUCK

highline
Any motor which is just over a year old and priced at nearly 22 grand should be in mint condition. Do these dealers really think they will sell their cars in that state of condition
