misternomer
Hi Guys, 2000 A8 with Navigation Plus Fell asleep with a book in the car last weekend with seats reclined and seat heating at full blast. Woke up 40 mins later - blimey they sap the power. Battery flat. Managed to ....jussst....turn her over after waiting 30 mins and was back up and running again. Had some minor electrical hissy fits which straightened out after another 30 mins but the stereo was prompting me for a security code which I didn't know. Locked me out after 2 tries. I now have the code (RTFM!) but it's locked me out completely. Is there a way of resetting without removing the battery? If I really must remove the battery then will there be any other ill effects? Cheers
Ska
I found the batteries on these things to be great... the garage tried turning over the car for a week and a half and then the battery when flat. But any way, about your stereo lock out, on the pre facelift models with the Bose, Gamma, Delta cc etc. type stereos you have to put the key into ignition turn it one place and turn on the stereo and then leave it for about an hour! It will then clear the stereo and you can try again. Bummer I know but look at it this way at least you can finish that book now!
misternomer
Ska - Thanks for the advice. Mine's a Bose NavPlus on a 2000 model (the one with the Xenons). I'll try the key thing and let you know. Cheers
Ska
you dont need to turn the ignition lights on remember!!! Dont know if these A8's have a coil so you dont want to take the chance of burning it or the coil packs out. Just to reitterate turn the key to the 1st position so the stereo can be switched on, good luck.
