Not sure where to post this one so decided here would be good. I bought a W reg (2000) A3 1.8T with 63K on the clock from an independent dealer on 05/02/05. For the first 3 weeks it ran fine, then it started playing up. Where do I stand as far as returning and getting a full refund is concerned? It's starting to do my feekin head in taking it to the local RAC warranty approved garage to get it sorted (4 trips now and still not right) suicide.gif

There's nothing in the small print about returning in a certain number of days.

Usually any car bought from a dealer would have some kind of warranty no matter how small. You should phone the garage and ask what warranty comes with their cars as if you were a potential customer. If they say "28 days" then you go on to say "well I bought this car 3 weeks ago you see and....".

However I don't think they are in any way obliged to give you a refund. They will most likely either repair it, or let you choose another car from their forecourt. But when it comes to a car dealership giving a refund, I'm afraid it's very unlikely to happen unless it was specifically bought with a "refund within 28 days if not happy" clause. They'll probably buy it back off you though, for about 50% of what you paid them (after all, it's faulty now!!)
