Logs
Ok...lets hope I can describe this ok! In the space of an hour's driving today I had this problem about 3-4 times. Accelerating as normal....then when I put my foot down a little bit more I felt a "click." Took my foot off the gas/accelerator and the car kept accelerating! Put my foot on the clutch and I got the "vrooooom" that you get when you put your clutch down while you're accelerating! I put my foot under the pedal because I thought it was maybe stuck or something but the pedal was "loose" in the sense that I could move it up and down with my foot below it etc....if I put my foot down more I could accelerate further but it still didn't stop accelerating when I took my foot off the pedal. After a while it just sorts itself out. Feels like when I press the pedal down sometimes something is getting "stuck" and not letting the "inners" that make the pedal work return to their normal position when I take my foot off the pedal, but the pedal still moves fine. When I say it moves fine....I mean that it's got a lot of "give" and will move in and out extremely easily as if it's not "pushing" on anything. Apparently my springs are fine, so that's not the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers!
tozerman
Does your car have fly by wire throttle ? If it does it sounds to me like you need a new throttle pedal assembly. I think i am right in saying that at the top of the throttle pedal there is a potentiometer arrangement, that is probably what is causing your problem.. HOPE IT HELPS............Tony.. Logs
Nope, just a normal cable! Had the cable tightened 'cause it was a bit slack, thought that might be causing the problem. The pedal feels a lot "tighter" now in general and more responsive. Not been for a long drive yet though to test it out...got a nice 3 and a half hour journey tomorrow that will let me know if it's ok or not!
