thul
Just bought the A4 2.0T Multitronic. Great car. I had it fitted with a tracking device by a 3rd party , approved by Audi South Africa. I then started having intermittent episodes of the central locking not working, both with opening and closing the car by remote. I had to open or close the car manually when the problem surfaced. The guys have temporarily disconnected the tracking device. The problem seems to be persistant. The battery of the remote has tested and it appears fine. Audi had initially blamed the tracking device for the problem. At the moment it appears that the problem is with the car. Audi then re-coded the keys. Within the first 6 hours the one key stopped working. By day two the spare key also started giving problems. To open the car now involves a triple manoeuvre : viz: Unlock the car door manually- turn on the igninition- then press the unlock button from inside the doors. You can imagine how this is annoying after leaving your office at 20h15 just hanging on to your files and what-nots. Are there any people out there experiencing similar problems ? UBM
Welcome Thul Say Hi to my cousins over in Jo'Burg for me! As for your problem - try reading this linky and it miay help. Otherwise, you would assume an error code is being thrown-up. get the Audi monkeys to plug it into the vag-com and find out. I can't imagine a tracking device would foul up the door locks. The only thing I can think of is the battery has been disconnected (aka the link above) and it has put the locking out of sync.
stratty31
Hi, you'll find there is a fault with the remote key..you need a modified one..all of the dealers over here should be aware of this by now..the rmote are losing their "rolling codes" and becoming unsychronised..you can reset them with the ignition on and presing the lock button, but it will probably fail again until it's replaced..also don't leave the keys in the car..it may lock itself!!!!!!!!! thul
I sent an angry e-mailed to Audi today. I got a call from the Dealer Principal ( First time I heard of such a title ), turns out they are well aware of the problem. Apparently it is quiet prevalent with the face-lifted A4s. They are apparently waiting for the updated remote controls. Why they lied in the first place bogles my mind. After listening to some sweet talking I opted to give in. What can I say , I love the car. I will wait for the remote. As for you UberBlingMeister, I did manage to contact your cousins. However they all slammed their phones down as soon as I mentioned your name. I will try them again.
