Hi all,

Bascially I have a leak in drivers footwell near the foot "Rest" & Accelerator Area. i.e Front of Footwell.

Now I do park on a hill overnight which I bet doesn't help.

But still..... Now I was driving today in the "wet" and the footwell was pretty much soaked, flooded in my eyes.

Has anyone had the same problem or any suggestions.

The car is a 53 Plate. I also know about the pollen filter could this be the case.

Any help is appreciated.

I had exactly the same problem on my 04 A3, two months after picking it up.

They removed the dash and most of the front of the car in trying to fix it and decided it was the gromet for the bonnet release. When it is leaking, run your hand up by the bonnet release and the sound proofing around there to see if it is wet up there.

I have to say that they did cure it, but in doing so (by taking the dashboard out) caused an even bigger leak on the passenger side, which they solved by putting in a new windscreen.

This fixed the second leak, but caused the auto wipers to not function correctly and the car to start squeeking and creeking from all over the place.

I had a similar experience on my Y2K Audi A3.

Water kept flooding the passenger footwell each time a thunderstorm occured (which is a common occurance for British summertime).

What it turned out to be was where the grey plastic inlay (the grey plastic strip from where the windscreen wiper shafts come out from) meets the bottom of the windscreen.

At the bottom of the windscreen there is a rubber beading with a groove cut into it. The grey plastic inlay SHOULD clip into this groove for the length of the windscreen but often comes undone, once this happens all the dirt and debris from the windscreen fill this groove preventing the inlay from fitting properly again and so water gets in.

You have to clear out the gunk then join the two parts and ensure that the inlay is flush with the windscreen for the whole lenth from one side of the windscreen till the other side.

Hope this helps! 169144-ok.gif
