[Audi A3/S3] A3 2.0T DSG - Launch control

We've ordered a 3.2 DSG Sportback and I'm not even aware that it comes with any form of launch control. I thought only the TTs had it? I certainly didn't see any "LC" button on the dash when I had a 3.2 DSG for 48-hour test drive... Am I about to get a nice surprise?

Mmmm...is that right? I was led to believe the Launch control was on all DSG's. I will be a bit miffed if my TDI doesn't have it. I was impressed with it when I test drove it on a TT

Prepare to be miffed then, cos it doesn't have it! Not sure whether the 2.0T has it; I know the manual says 6 cyl models only but the 2.0T wasn't around when they wrote that.

It's not a button, you stick the gearbox in Sport mode then keep your left foot on the brake while flooring the throttle. It holds the revs at 4000 then when you release the brakes it flies off!

You must also switch ESP off. You can use manual mode or Sport.

As far as I know, you can only perform launch control on the 3.2

I have a 2.0 T DSG Sportback, am off out later I will give it a try. But as others have said I don' think it has it.

And too be honest I don't thinks its missed. On the Fwd you will just be fighting the traction contol anyway really, unless its super dry and grippy tarmac. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks for the clarification. Does anyone know what effect this has on the clutch? Does it lead to a severely burnt out clutch(es?) if you do it too often?

The 2.0T FSI DSG has launch control on Australian models. Switch of ESP, engage sport mode on the box, foot on the brake and foot on the accelerator; the engine holds at roughly 2,800 revs and when you let go of the brake you lose 25 bucks of rubber (FWD only)!!

Well I tried it yesterday .... and not sure if it worked or not.

Put it this way I don't think I would try it again, the car tries to pull itself forward as if the clutch is engaged. It did start off pretty darn quick, but I didn't like the way it seemed to put so much stress through the tranmission.

I would say maybe it wasn't working as all I was doing was holding the car back on the brake as it was trying to go forward. I wouldn't do it very often thats for sure, and the clutch does sit in a oil, but it can still wear and this seems to put a lot of stress on the car either way. SAUER0421.GIF
