mu71rd
well, as suspected, it was just a case that the transport was holding things up a bit. Car is being picked up on thursday in Germany and will be here on monday/tuesday apparantly. cheers Shaun
scotw
Yep same as mine, which does mean that mine has waited three weeks for pickup
mu71rd
yeah that's a bit poo. hopefully the 'unknown' delays are now over, and things will progress smoothly from here. Leman - any news on when yours should arrive yet?
Simonl
Nope, Now VW UK and my dealer won't even return my calls... very deppressing. I'm even half considering telling them to shove their feckin car... if only it wasn't such a damn good one.

RedRobin
....I've been out all of today at West Tuning ....But shall go and see them personally tomorrow to see what they have to say. I haven't spoken to Stu today and assume he's back.
mu71rd
whilst scott's comment about nicking my rcd500 made me laugh, it also made me realise - how the hell am I supposed to know if they gave me the sound pack or not?! Does anyone actually know if it looks different? I'm more confident of spotting if it's a DSG and has an armrest
RedRobin
It might tell you in the handbook (mine's in my car in my garage right now!) but you still need to know it's actually installed!
Simonl
[ QUOTE ] ....I've been out all of today at West Tuning ....But shall go and see them personally tomorrow to see what they have to say. I haven't spoken to Stu today and assume he's back. [/ QUOTE ] Nah Stu's back tomorrow mate. I think he'll be pretty upset at the way this has been handled. I can accept delays, i can accept that somethings are out of dealers hands, but I cannot accept people just ignoring me and not bothering to keep me informed... that's just rude IMO- and VW UK are equally as bad TBH. There is no way i'm blaming stu, cause i know that he would have been on this like a shot, it's just his boss that needs a kick up the . I've got an inckling this is down to him (adam)... funny how my car will nearly be 3 weeks late, and how long has stu been away for... hmmm 3 weeks! RedRobin
....Yep, I think you've got it pretty well sussed LeMan. Adam strikes me as a typical hard-nosed sales guy. I had a go at him over my car's delivery a couple of times and he clearly didn't care two poos and he never greets my arrival either. Stu will have limited powers but I'll certainly have a chat with him too about your case. Am going in there anyway cos some fecker has prised off my VW logo wheel nut cover. Simonl
[ QUOTE ] Stu will have limited powers but I'll certainly have a chat with him too about your case. [/ QUOTE ] If he calls me that's all it needs, it's all about communication right? Bearing mind the car should be here now (12 weeks on weds) Adam hasn't called once in the last two weeks, not once! IMO Stu should be running the show down there! I do find the whole situation utterly ridiculous, where is my car, no one knows....!!! how is this? Simonl
[ QUOTE ] sounds to me like Adam is a complete tw@ [/ QUOTE ] lets just say he's very typical of every VW salesman i've ever met. The annoying thing is, he's still better than my local dealer. Apparently he has a brother called Shaun
mu71rd
ha! actually, to be fair I still don't have any real problems with Shaun. yet...
scotw
Shaun's pretty good....when he calls/emails you back, I've been ignored a couple of times.
scotw
Well I now have a confirmed date - 25th Nov, one month after the car arrived at the dealer which is 16 days after the 14 days that is quoted. Typically that day doesn't suit me so it may be December before I actually pick it up. I'm happy I've finally got somewhere but its been harder than it should have been and Select have been continually vague about delivery dates which is somewhat frustrating. Mu71rd I guess you've been told the same?
Simonl
I don't get your cases, your cars were delivered to german dealers and have been sitting there for a whole month?!? that's nuts. Are Select an import company?
SMB
key question is , for the money you saved ( assuming you did) was it worth the risk( as you have paid for the car already) , reduced warranty assume you have 23 months left now?, and stress? , And would you use them again or recommend them? What do the rest of you think?
WhiteHArtMart
Good point - but look at the stress LeMan has had - using a UK dealer!! I guess someone else could use Select and not have the problems - its the whole inconsistency that is the stressful part! Still - I'm not complaining - got mine within 11 weeks! RedRobin
I'm pretty confident that legally any and every warranty starts on the actual date of delivery and hand-over to the customer/owner. Ah, but are these cars on their second owner on paper? The VW stealers leave much to be desired but I'm not sure the money saved is worth it if things go wrong. I think you can buy a further 12 months warranty to make it 3 years.
SMB
I think the warranty will start from when the car was first paid for, as the dealer registers them I'd guess, so surely warranty starts when the german dealer is paid?
scotw
Got conformation, warranty starts from delivery date which is when I pick it up. Also, the car is first registered in the UK, so we're the first owners. Was it worth it? I think so, but I'd have probably been VERY happy if it weren't for this frustration at the end. WIth this extra hassle, well, I'll tell ya after the 25th!
