Markallain
Got a K750i and want to get a Bluetooth HandsFree kit to connect to the OEM Sat Nav. Which is the best? Also how do the units attach to the dash? can they be easily removed afterwards?
Paul
I dont have the golf, but i do have a S3 with sat Nav, and a K750i I fitted a Sony Ericsson HCB-30 linked it up so it mutes the stereo, and spliced in the audio as well, retaining the packaged speaker, incase stereo is off. I just took it apart and soldered on a couple of wires to share the audio feed with the stereo. I needed to get a pin for the connector on the back of the stereo for the mute, I robbed this from an old autolead adapter I cut apart. I had nothing for the speaker input, they were tiny, so just soldered up the ends of the cables, and poked them into the radio, through the empty holes in the plug cable tying in place. These dont carry any current so safe and its been prefectly flawless since. Everything hidden, everything returnable to standard without any fixings at all. you have to know what you doing though, and not be afraid of a bit of wiring/ taking your car to pieces. The only bit you see is this. And this i had to take apart and desolder, and reassemble to get it neatly where i wanted.

Paul
Do not go anywhere near Halfords! and if you want a no screws, no marks install, make sure you specify it. nothing worse than coming back to find someones self tappered a bracket to your dash! Skidmark
[ QUOTE ] Thanks Paul- very helpful I'll definately need somebody to do this it I go down this route - does anyone else have any suggestions of an easier solution? [/ QUOTE ] I have S/E h/free kits in R32 & Beetle...both fine...the Beetle is set up thro the radio mute / car speakers.... the R32 is via its [s/E] own speaker & is independent of the OE radio/satnav. I have used the "goose neck" mikes in both cars [mounted high on A pillar] as the std mike was a bit iffy mounted by the interior mirror. The control pad is fitted with velcro to the dash....no drilling. for the R32 I picked up supplies from the bus-bars by the relay panel [in front of driver's knees (rhd)] and fixed the S/E power unit above the relay panel with double sided tape, no drilling. cheers
Paul
I mamaged with the standard mic, stuck to windscreen nearest the pilliar at the top. Perfect, except in torrential rain, the person on the other end gets deafened.
Lordz
I fit all these kits and anything you care to imagine into cars all day long and the hcb 30 being an older model yer might wanna try an hcb 300 or even a newer model but yes a sony kit would be the best choice unless you fancy a display in which case you could go for a parrot 3100,these kits can now be updated via pc to make compatible for newer phones. The factory VW radios have inputs for the phone kits speaker output which are normally labelled on the radio and are in the centre mini iso (green) plug and the mute is also labelled, yer can get the correct pins for these as well to do a proper job, swan neck mics are pretty much a waste of time never since i been fitting kits in cars have i ever felt the need for them, but i have not yet paired a k750i to a hcb 30. When yer complete fitting if yer hold down the TP set button yer get a list of options cycle to 'PHONE' and adjust the output to about '18' if audio's pumped through radio and set to '0'if audio goes through supplied speaker, adjust the phones volume during call to about 3/4. Also a good place to mount the button is over one of the blanks next to the hazard light switch, cut a tiny notch out of the blank for the cable if yer need to,these blank covers are less than a quid to replace if yer make a mess of it or when yer remove kit, easily replaced.
