Golf Mk2 1989- 120mb clock help

Ive just bought a new speedo/rev counter pod but the miles on it are miles out. How hard is it to rewind the milage back to my 90k?? i heard that it is simply a pin inside the speedo.

Let me guess you mk2 has more miles on it than a map and you would like it to be under 100,000 miles so it sounds better when you sell it ? is that what you want ?

... but why did you buy one with more miles than you car.

Surely it would've been a better idea to buy one with a) the same miles (roughly) or, b) less miles.

ooo no you got it wrong, basicly when i got my golf it has a clock instead of a rev counter, so i have bought a new pod wit a rev counter but the miles on it are 120000, but the miles on my car are 90000. So i basicly i want to wind back my new pod so it is perfect with the block miles

And in answer to your question: It is hard to pick up a 8v gti clock (120mph) with as little or less miles of what i already have. I cant pick and choose realy

TO be honest what you want to do is easy enough - but fraught with danger - I personally would basically just leaev it be with the extra mileage because lets face it 90k - 120k - whats the difference - not much in the scheme of things - if yours was sub 60k I could understand your point, but honestly dont think its worth your trouble.

If you want the rev counter, just put your speedo into the GTI pod. There only about 6 screws accross the back, split the pod into 2 halfs swap your speedo with the correct mileage into the pod with a revcounter. rebuild and fit back in!
