Decked
I don't think this is possible but my sister's Mk5 Gti makes a whoosh sound when you take your foot off the accelerator. She kinda likes the noise and wants me to make it louder. Is this possible? It's a DSG if that makes a difference..... Thanks
SamD
Mine too (they all will if you accelarate hard then suddenly life off.) You could add an after market dump valve but as we were talking about the other day it is likely to increase noise at the expense of decreased performance. Try searching for dump valve in this forum and you will find the other post.
Decked
I've looked all over the place for one, I'm sure I've read somewhere there is a wastegate fitted on the turbo therefore it will always be released at that point first. Not sure how accurate this is??? I suppose an uprated turbo would be the best bet??
simkna
All turbos have a wastegate, surely, only way it can control boost - It'll be ECU controlled rather than the older vacuum type though. Si.
Decked
Hummmm, I guess i'm going to have to cheat and phone up Awesome or AMD. Thanks
RedRobin
....I've already spoken to Andy at Awesome about Dump Valves - Not a good idea on the Golf. Would you really want to sacrifice performance or muck about with this finely designed FSI T engine just for a whoosh? - I would leave it to the professional tuners who I expect would only recommend it in conjunction with other mods. Please let us know what Awesome and AmD tell you.
spankit
Forge Motorsport are good. They have what you want. However, this is likely to have a warrantee issue, check this out with them. linky for forge motorsport

SamD
The thing about dump valves (in my very humble opinion), is that they kinda make the GTi a bit too Max Power for me liking It's a fine line.....

SamD
I have to say I really liek the quads/rear valance, just don't fancy the pssst noise of a full on dump valve. As you say each to his own
simkna
For those that want the Max Power dump valve sound, but are concerned about messing with the performance or warranty of the GTI, you need one of these... [/ QUOTE ] ....Not in production yet - Hence Awesome not recommending to me the dump valve that is currently available I guess. I would wait for others to test such a product on the GTI before even considering it. But each to their own of course.

RedRobin
....??!! 140 quid for something fake?! Tut, tut. I do like the sound a bit though! Weird thing is that it probably won't sound fake on the GTI! Except to those who really know.
simkna
I wonder if they do a "Supercharger Whine" version as well. Si.
