NewNiceMrMe
It's not a true M car, I know. However, one of the guys from BM3W has just taken delivery of this and I think it looks rather nice.

Newbie123
Looks nice, presumably that is the standard M Sport look (wheels & bodywork) that is available on the other versions ? Just thinking about a 120d myself.
NewNiceMrMe
Newbie, no, it's different. You won't get the same sort of kit on the other models. The 120d is a stunning car though. I drove one a few weeks ago and it was like a go kart. Superb handling and fantastic driver feedback. The grip was sublime and it was one of the most fun test drives I've had in many years. It's power really is impressive. The one I drove was the Sport version with all the trimmings too.
Newbie123
Ah right, just checked the BMW configurator for the M sport and it seems as though you get the same bodykit but the wheels are different. The lower models get 17" double spoke alloys with about 7/8 spokes rather than the five-spoke ones in the pictures above. Quite a good deal really, just seems to lift the whole car. I'm looking forward to taking a 120d out for a test drive in the next few weeks, I'm not sure I could go back to FWD after having so much fun in the Z4, plus the 2.0D BMW has much better performance than the equivalent Audi/VW (although that may change in the coming months). I will let you know what I think. I'll also be trying out the new 3 series as well.
Phil330
These pics of the 130 look great! I want to go and test drive one too see what the new 3.0ltr is like. Must be awesome, hope it sounds as good as mine
danksy
John Carter, Audi_Smitten and I saw one last night, and it sounded great as he pulled out of the pub car park on full chat+++ Of course A_S wouldn't get close enough to it to have a decent look I knew it was "special" from the wheels
Phil330
Oh great, i have not seen any yet, and their are none up for sale yet on the BMW site. I might pop down to my garage and grab a test drive! I love my car, but its quite heavy, especially in comparison to the 3.0Ltr Z4 i had a few weeks back on rental. Hmm, quandry! It would probably save me about £10000 too! Has anyone heard an M3 round town? I reckon it sounds crap in comparison to mine, probably Bias i know, but its got like a high pitch wine instead of a deep throaty roar. Hope this changes on the new M3! Thorburn
Looks very nice! The slightly deeper rear bumper definately makes a bit more sense of the boots shape, the spoiler appears to have been nicked off a Civic Type-R though!

[/ QUOTE ] The sound of the E46 M3 is a very personal thing - you either love it or hate it. It's the result of the extreme amount of fine-tuning that has gone into the car. However, anyone putting a Milltek system on the car, or a Supersprint, will testify to a rather different note that satisfies most needs. Then if you add the 100 cell race cats....wow, what a noise. The forthcoming M3 will of course have a totally different sound - the V8 will see to that. I never got around to fitting the Milltek on my last M3 and I didn't have the first one long enough to get bored with the noise. At full cry they can sound outstanding though. Phil330
Yeh i have heard one going past on the motorway that sounds quite nice, and i would love the SMG11 gearbox. Is your 6 Series Stratus Grey? I have not seen that colour before. A mate has a 645ci in Silver grey which looks good. I like the black personally, looks like a stealth fighter jet at the front, sort of!
