PhilMitch33
My old vw polo will not start now has any body any ideas?? I have changed plugs , leads , cap, rotor arm and coil and checked relays. The car just turns over with no fire up of the engine even when bumped. Could it be the hall sender?? Have taken it off but looks ok to me, how about the ECU?
mulkbear
Sounds very much like the hall sensor, Needs the be tested with a osilascope.
wig
Hi Mitch, Where are you? Have you checked for a spark on the plugs? Sounds like your hall sender is gone have a look inside disi cap make sure all three wires are intact going into the black plug. I am still waiting for confirmation of how to get a fault code reading on this car, the connectors are under the passenger glove box. A new hall sender is about 55 pounds from GSF and you have to fit it yourself ( a bit tricky but possible), otherwise you have to pay about 115 pounds to Volkswagen for a complete distributor, which includes cap & rotor arm, you can keep your new ones as spares.
