Only just sorted my problem with not starting(head temp sender)now the ABS light seems to be coming on when I start up and stays on, instead of continuing I've been turning the car off and back on and the light works as normal, there does not seem to be a problem with the brakes as such and I can't see anything wrong, could this just be another dodgy sender, is there just one or one in each caliper, anyone got any ideas or advice?

Would appreciate any advice, thanks

Agreed. 9 times out of 10 VAG-COM should clear the fault without any work needed. If there is a problem, it'll tell you exactly where. Check out the VAG com database for users in your area. You may find that a dude round the corner will have a look for the price of a pint. Failing that, get to your local Audi specialist. I'm lucky enough that my local does it for free.

Good luck

I had the same prob on mine too. Apparently the sensor can get clogged up with carbon from the brakes which causes the fault to show up. On mine, it was ok until i got over 10-15 mph. I found that this is the point where the ABS self-check is conducted. IF it comes on before you start moving, i'd be tempted to think that it may point towards the ABS pump more than the sensor.

Anyhow, i never got to the bottom of the problem on my A3 as the problem simply disappeared after about 3 weeks, never to show up again. ABS worked fine, made sure to check that once the roads got wet.

There'a a sensor on each wheel, on each hub. It looks like a disk with load of holes in it with a rectangular sensor behind. All it does it counts the holes and sends the data to the computer. If the computer notices a difference in the values being sent back by one of the sensors, it chucks up an error. That was my understanding of how it worked, anyway!
