There are volume and mute on the left, and on the right i have up and down for driving the computer, and an 'ok' for changing modes but there is another which looks like it should work some kind of menu....! Anyone got any ideas what this is suppoes to do?
DB6Vantage
Just a guess since I don't have my GTi yet, but mybe it toggles between CD, radio and phone?
gjowen
Hi DB6, I wish it did, but unless i am being a bit dense there seems to no reaction even when it is pushed and held for a few seconds... It would be helpful if it was mentioned in the manual!!
nutkins
Is it for the Phone prep?
gjowen
Might be.... Have to visit the dealers soon anyway so i will ask the question. It was ex-demo and the salesman i bought it off had it for 1 month before me so hopefully he figured it out!!

gjowen
Would explain the lack of anything happening without phone kit :-) Thanks....
mixit
As regards asking the stealer? Mine rang me the other day to ask ME what the buttons did, because, and I quote, " Yours is the only GTi we've sold with the MFW and we can't find any info here on it" . Mine is also the only DSG GTi they have sold.
gjowen
hmmm, bit of a worry that! You'd hope they would have a bit of a clue! You should charge them a consulting fee :-)
Cleybrooke
It's amenu button if you have the Hi Line display. I see from the photo that it has the midline so you could be correct in as much as it may not do anything. Hi Line for £50 is an aoption you really should pick! nutkins
That's probably why the highline is given as standard now with the multi function wheel...
RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] I think Iv'e seen the symbol on the button in a menu of a Sony Ericsson phone before? Me thinks Phone prep... [/ QUOTE ] .....That button circled in yellow is to open and switch between menus in the instrument display - Mid or High line computer. Button for accepting/ending phone calls is the one with the phone symbol in lower right of lefthand cluster of 4 buttons.
gjowen
How do oyu access the instrument display then? I assume i have the mid-line, but the button do not work...maybe it's busted?
Bungle
That button only works if you have a high line computer fitted. If you have a mid line computer, the button does........ Nothing
rouse
you use it to change between trip 1 and trip 2. it gives you information like time into your journey and mpg
RedRobin
I'll check it again tomorrow but I think it works on the Midline as rowse says....I haven't bothered to change those settings recently. I don't think you are right Bungle - but I stand to be corrected.
Bungle
Thats dealers for you. Took one out for a test drive, and he said it didn't work unless you had a hi-line. Interestingly, he didn't know exactly what a hi-line did. Ive learnt more from lurking on the forum than spending an hour on a test drive !! silentandy
Most dealers don't seem to know anything about the cars they sell. I've had to tell 3 different dealers that DSG now comes with paddles and point it out in the price list.
GTiCrow
I recently took delivery of my DSG 06 version GTi and it has the same buttons. I have been told that the button you are querying is for the Satnav - which I do not have, hence the button does nothing.
RedRobin
SatNav?....The plot thickens!! My handbook matches what I suggested it was in my earlier post (#599407) and as confirmed by rowse. On my list of to dos in the morning!
RedRobin
Having now spent 15 mins trying out all the buttons on my Multi-Fun wheel, even trying two at once and holding some for 3 secs etc, I cannot get that (yellow circled) button to do anything at all....I could swear it worked something before! The lower left "OK" button is the one which toggles between "1" and "2" sets of settings. I'm on Midline. I've put a call to my dealer to hear what they have to say and will report back here later.
