how to remove the bonnet grill from an a4?

Lift the bonnet so that you can see the back of the grill. You should see four (or six, I can't remember exactly) little black clips holding the grill in place around its inside edge. Gently unclip these by prising them away from the cut-out in the bonnet - bottom ones first IIRC - and the whole lot should just pop out.

Now see how the front looks a bit like a BMW!

This is for the B6 by the way - I'm not sure about the B5.

I've got an rs4 grill to put on my b5 a4. its kinda similar to the b6 to take it out. jus need to get some rs4 bumpers

Hi just to update,was really easy to fit the s4 grill,like u say its just some clips along the top that need to be released the bottom part just slots/sits in place,

Only hiccucp was when i tried to fit the quattro badge back on the new s4 grill....it didnt fit,due to the grill being much more thicker in the vertical slats,bit of cutting here and there (with the badge!) and ive manged to get it to fit into place..(with the use of a hack saw/file..) cant tell its be altered neither!

Grill looks great!
