mulkbear
I have just been looking though my old collage notes/books and looking at the Two stroke Diesel engine a wondered if the engine has ever been fitted to a Motor vehicle ? I know a lot of Large Ship engines are two stroke diesel and the worlds largest diesel engine is a two stroke engine. I know that Genrael motor devloped a small Two stroke engine (fitted with a super charger) that could be fitted to a vehicle but peak power was at 2000rpm and peak revs was around 3000rpm So was a car/van ever made or fitted with a 2 stroke diesel engine ? danksy
Two strokes are notorious polluters, since there is a huge overlap at the exhaust stage (essentially unburnt fuel is mixed with exhaust gasses). Therefore I think it unlikely that a two stroke would be fitted to commercial or consumer vehicles
