Motormouth
Hi, Got in my car today and tried to pull the driver centre arm rest down, it went down but only halfway. I then put back in the upright position and tried to bring it down again, however this time it was stuck rigded in the up right position and wont budge. Had a good pull of it but its well and truely stuck and has no give. When I push the button in that you push to get it down it doesnt feel right. Im still under warrenty so not to worried about it, but taking it into dealers is a pain in the arse for me, Has anyone else had the problem, if so how did you fix it ? Also is there anyway I can access the mechisum that lowers the arm rest or is it a sealed unit ?
Motormouth
Just noticed in the Audi used car warrenty booklet it says it does not cover, * upholstery, interior and exterior trims Fek, do you think that includes centre armrest ? The car is on an 02 plate. The warrenty says the above is 'Wear and perishable'
Chillihead
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek, hope not, however I would argue that it is the mechanism, not the upholstery that is defective.
Motormouth
It goes in tomorrow so will know then. I will kick and scream that its the mechanism and its covered under warrenty. Thing is if its not covered by warrenty they charge me for looking at it and thats £98 an hour plus VAT, the part is £200 dont want to end up forking out a £120 to be told what I already know that its broken ! jules_s3
I am currently on my third arm rest. The previous two were both replaced under warranty by Chelmsford Audi. My current arm rest has again broken but as the car is no longer in warranty, Audi are only prepared to make a contribution towards the cost. Motormouth
When you say they are only prepared to make a contribution, was that when you had NO warrenty what so ever, be it the orignal warrenty from new or an Audi approved used car one ? Also how did your break, its the handle that you push in on mine that seems to have broken. If you have the same breakage I wouldnt mind refering to you when I talk to the Audi Warrenty people

Tight fisted cokc munchers that they are!!! [ QUOTE ] Also how did your break, its the handle that you push in on mine that seems to have broken. If you have the same breakage I wouldnt mind refering to you when I talk to the Audi Warrenty people.[ QUOTE ] Mine just got jammmed in the upright position. No rhyme or reason to it. One day the arm rest worked, the next it was stuck. If you have any further questions then please drop me a PM. I can't see that you'll have any issues with Audi as long as yours is still in warranty.
Motormouth
Result they fixed it under warrenty, would of cost me just over £340 if it hadnt. I used Amersham Audi, I was actually quite impressed with them, they called me sir, brought me coffee, got a free carwash and hoover, drove me to and from the tube station, and to top it off the girl on the service desk was a quite a babe. There labour rates are high though £98.75 an hour PLUS VAT ! anyone beat that ?
