benjie
How about the fuse in the engine cooling fans/climate control? Also, with reference to the leaking rear washer, how about wet patches due to separated pipes on the nearside rear pillar
sotty
5 star posting. I have experienced at least 2 of the problems mentioned.
Droog
You can add: Wires that go to the injectors may go brittle under the engine cover to the list, it causes misfiring on the pd engines. VW has told me it is a 'common' complaint. It cost me about 400 quid to replace the No.2 injector, not very happy at all. My car has only done 45000 miles. Wobby
Did this generate a fault code?
Droog
Yes it did Wobby, something like 15667 misfire on cylinder 2. Can't remember exactly. And i also got a friendly auto electrician to just replace the wiring loom to the injectors. So i have to amend my previous post to say it could have cost me 450 quid plus vat . The actual cost was 90 quid. The wiring itself sits inside the rocker cover and sits in a bath of oil! Strange. So don't be fobbed off with VW telling you you have to change the injector, it may be wise to change the wires first. I read somewhere else in this forum of the same thing, although i'm not saying his injector wasn't dead. But just maybe it wasn't :/
up_top0
how do you get rid of the ratteling noise at start up? and when my car is at idle its below 1000 rpms and it moves and it feels like its gonna stall, its a 5 speed VW bora 1.8T 2001
rewster
Had the window thing go on. My take is that the rubbers at the top of the window get a little 'dry' and grab the glass. At the same time you depress the swith and the regulator drops towards the bottom of the door under control, when the window finally follows its uncontrolled and falls into the door recess smashing off the lifters on the regulator. I've applied a little wd40 to the rubbers and all seems a little more refined now.....we'll see if it works, but at £157 for the first replacement it must be worth a shot. rewster
Here's another! The anti roll bar on the Bora seems to corrode quickly and needs replacement at around 100, 00 miles. At the dealers they tell me that this is becuase the ruber bushes holding it, tend to wear the powder coating away allowing corrosion. Try wd40 again to lubricate the junction between the two. rewster
BTW, I have not now, nor have I ever held shares in WD40. Though if they offer me money to advertise, I'd do it and to hell with scruples!
rewster
Jeezus! Here's another one. I have had mayo in the oil filler throut since I bought the car, it ruined the previous filler cap, and I replaced that hoping for an improvement. Not so. I also found the breather pipe going from the filler neck/ top of rocker cover leading to the inlet of the throttle body was chock a block full of mayo too. No sign of head gasket gone, no contamination elsewhere. Worrying though if you're not expecting to see it! WTF VW?
gnasher
Hi there. I'm a new user, looking for some help. I had the gearbox break on my golf, as the common faults listed and have now had it fixed. The car now makes a strange kind of dynamo noise now, when it is driven over 40 mph. It's a Golf 1.6 2000. No one seems to know what the noise is or how to fix it - can anyone help? The noise get's more high pitched the faster you go. Everything is fine with the new gerabox, it's all been checked over several times.
simonc6484
My bora decided to have the lack of power fault til i reset the ignition fault for its 60000 mile birthday no lights showing a fault appeared on the dashboard tho. I just hope its the air sensor and not the turbo wont no till i check it on vag not only that ive shattered the engine splash guard on the same weekend gutted The other fault not mentioned in your list is that boras seem to attract collisions with other cars 4 in one year none of them my fault, I should give up working and become a professional claimer
