rannsachair
I have front and rear parking sensors, around 6 months ago they stopped working. At last service I asked Audi dealer to have a look - they advised fault on front offside sensor and quoted around £420 to paint and fit a new sensor! I never bothered and a week later they started working again, as they have for the last 2 months. Yesterday they stopped again. Just get a continual beep for a few seconds when I engage reverse and no sensors work as before. Any suggestions? could it just be a faulty connection? I can see the back of all the sensors except the front outers - do I need to take the front bumper off or just the under engine cover for a look? I actually bought a new sensor to fit after the quote from Audi, but still have the hassle of painting and fitting if it is just a connector. Anyone else experienced this? Any advice welcome. peterb
I had an intermittent failure of the sensors on my RS6 - it mainly failed in the cold and/or wet. VAG COM showed that it was the rightmost rear sensor failing. Dealer swapped the sensor (apparently had to remove bumper cover to do this) but the sensors then never worked again. It was booked back in for further investigation - it took them about 5 hours to isolate and repair a damaged wire. Thankfully, this was all under warranty! kerbside
I had a similar problem with a similar system on a 'non Audi'! It was caused by a hairline crack on the sensor body which would fill with water and fail then dry out and work again.
