Beige leather interior

Hi all,

My first post in this forum.. Jst placed an order for a black gti with beige leather which is due to arrive in Oct 06. I haven't seen a gti with this combination so to those of you who may have this combo does it look as sporty as the charcoal leather? Secondly what colour is the roof trim with the beige leather, is it dark like with the interlagos and charcoal leather or is it a light colour?

Exactly!! Exactly as both LeMan and Mixit say - Too 'exec' and not 'GTI' enough imo. Would suit the Mk5 R32 very well. Btw, my R32 worm is dead and buried until I see what the Mk6 has to offer.

Sorry, toti....Your first post and 3 of us are shooting down what you have ordered! Don't be put off! LeMan, Mixit, and myself are probably amongst the most outspoken and tactless members in this GTI forum. Each to their own and you enjoy!

It looks like it's going to mark very easily, especially the plastics.

IMO VW beige leather never ages gracefully, it goes like shiney custard after 2 years!

Anyway, if your car isn't due until Oct 06, that means it won't be built until Aug 06... plenty of time to change spec if you fancy 169144-ok.gif

toti> it's your car mate, so have it the way you want wink.gif However, I agree with the other lads, beige leather doesn't look right in a GTI imho, still looks good tho! I've been heckled by most of my mates for not getting the interlagos cloth, as leather isn't retro :P

Anyway, we digress, whatever the colour of the leather, you've ordered one of the best cars on the road. Some, mostly on this forum, would say that it's THE best. As Clarkson says "this car is a sensation" laugh.gif

Couple of Points --

Melbourne, like Auckland was one of the top 3 places in the world to live, is that not reason enough.

Exterior Look -- I was worried about the same thing when I ordered. I did not order any tint at all and i beleive it is fine the way it is, I guess this comes down to personal preference, I also like the dark leather from this aspect, but beige gives a little extra character.

Temperature -- You live in a hotter climate that most (probably all) of these posters - Nothing like beige leather to make a car sitting in 40 degree heat bearable (+ your tint should be great for this) I was very surprised at how much cooler this was.

Colour -- The photos are not that accurate for NZ/AUS. This is obviously the Euro Leather, The leather from SA is much darker than this, in comparison, the pictured ones are an off white, rather than a tan colour (I will post pics sometime) (unless my pc brightness settings are off?!)

Cleanliness – This is perhaps the most justified claim for a reason not to get beige, well should we say perceived cleanliness… as you just will see the dirt rather than hide it in the colour. The one thing that I did to combat this was to get the Rubber mats for daily driving. Oh, and just in case you are worried, the boot/trunk is still in Grey as per black leather option. Melbournes streets are very clean in comparison to most others.

Protection – I got a paint and leather protection kindly included from my dealer, this may make some difference. Recommended for whichever option you go for.

Aging Gracefully – Like any leather VW or Bentley, it must be looked after with the right materials to age gracefully… it doesn’t matter if it’s black or beige. In fact black leather can also crease with white lines… hardly graceful.

Dealer Opinion – In my opinion, the dealer only gives this advice because he will have to clean it more often than a black leather option… Think about it, what is the recommended VW Spec from your dealer. Everywhere I go its Reflex Silver with Black interior. The easiest to clean and the easiest to sell if you have a lot, sales people like selling what they know how to sell.

Resale value – I guess that you could argue that if a salesperson doesn’t like selling black with beige then the resale will be affected… This could be true, but I do know that I am the only person in NZ with a Black GTI in beige… so when I sell it, it is sure to be of value… Beige is not a phase like yellow & gold Audis, so it should be fine.

… Actually, yes, Beige is a terrible combination… nobody get it! (In NZ anyway...)
