Gemmzl
Hi, My car has been doing little misfires recently and now a warning light has come on. It looks like a battery with a lightening bolt and it's orange. Got a feeling it's engine management??? Does anyone know what that means or is this a common fault? thanks Gem
Ritey
Has it been serviced at required intervals? Sounds like it could be an engine management problem but best to get it checked out

RobGTi
My bet is that its your HT leads. Needed mine done a couple of weeks ago because it was misfiring (especially under load) Rob
Si_GTi
HT lead related problems seem to pop up all over the place at the moment with Polo owners! From what I've read though, in general if you are having problems with misfires and irregular running then replacing the HT leads *usually* cures things... jimmyp
The engine management light is the EPC light, and when i had a misfire it was the emmisions light that flashed up, but only for a short while, but if it stayed on it means the cat is on its way out. Not sure if this is any help but there you go anyway.
Gemmzl
It's not the EPC light. Would it misifre if the cat is on its way out? How much are HT leads roughly?
Gemmzl
Ok its the Exhaust Emission Warning Lamp. Weird thing is, it doesnt happen all the time and sometimes the car is fine. It was MOT'd in Dec, now if the Cat was on its wat out VW should have picked up on this, right? Do you think it could just be a lambda sensor? I'm hoping it is!!! Weedle
I had the smae problem on my polo the EPC exhaust emissions light comes on when it feels like it - mine was the MAF sensor best thing to try and do is get a small local garage to clean the pressure mainfold sensor - i get mine done once a year and i have not had the problem come back --- YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE IT - they might try to get you to replace dont it just get it cleaned it will be fine
jimmyp
[ QUOTE ] when i had a misfire it was the emmisions light that flashed up [/ QUOTE ] Mine only did it for a while as well until i got it checked and found out it was a coil pack misfiring, do the polo's have coils packs i'm not sure but try and get it plugged in to vagcom and this will tell you what is going on in your engine.
