BenjaminTDI
Pressure sensor somewhere maybe? I was going to say one of the injectors as sometimes these can deliver too much fuel and result in a slight hesitation.
pricey66
thanks for your advice..its currently back at the dealers, luckily still under warranty, but they are going to try to tell me they cant find anything wrong with it, again..maybe a fight is in order.. BenjaminTDI
Does it do it all the time you are idle? Does it shudder get worse the longer you are idling?
splenk
Mines got exactly the same sympton. 2.0 tdi 2004. After sitting idling for a minute or so, particularly noticeble when on a slight incline, there's an erratic noticible thump/shudder in the cars cabin caused by the engine shaking as if missfirning. You can see the engine shudder if you lift the bonnet and watch. I've had my car back to the dealers three times "Newcastle Audi" who've deduced it's not a 'problem', apparently they all do it to a greater or lesser extent. It's been expalined to me as follows: The reason the engine shakes is because of the EGR ( Exhaust Gas Recirculation) mechanism. After the cars been idling for a time , some of the spent exhaust gas is recirculated back into the engine so that it can be reburnt. When this happens the mixture of fuel/air is altered causing the shudder. This mechanism helps to allow the engine to meet its emission targets. I find it fairly annoying and my passengers have asked if there's something the matter with the car! It's a bit disappointing that Audi can't seem to get this right. I assume lots of engines use this technique for emmision control ( comments welcome), but I don't recall experiencing the same shuddering sympton in anything I've driven? Steve Gom
I've got same flippin' issue - Sunderland Audi had my 05 2.0 tdi sport 130K and told me everything operating as it should and no fault codes evident. It still judders at idle though! Steve
