Windscreen Washer Jets

And on mine too. I actually thought it was normal behaviour so I think the question we now need to ask is who has washer jets which pee strongly on the first go?

Having checked mine I get a reasonable plosh of water onto the screen followed immediately by the fan spray action. I would have thought it was designed to do this to get a quantity of water on a dry screen straight away.

Don't think so - other cars don't have this problem so presumably they have water in the pipes ready to go.

Whether the water in the pipes or windscreen washer bottle freezes is a function of how much "antifreeze" screenwash ayou've put in the water rather than where it is. Lower temperatures require more concentrated screenwash.

Not strickly true imo. As ab example Audis use to have big problems with the pipes freezing near the bonnet. It depends how exposed the water is how much and were its located on how easy and quickly it is too freeze as the temp constant and skin effects are not the same in all locations. On the older Audis and also the citreon XMs that suffer freezing bad a good fix was to remove the non return valve from the pipe that way the water was not sitting in the pipe near the bonnet and so the water did not freeze there and cause the washers not to work. Another way of thinking about it is if you stick a bucket of water in the freezer and a thin plastic pipe with some water in it. Which freezes solid the quickest.
