morrows
Hi there. I wondered if anyone could help me out. This weekend something went wrong on my 2001 passat saloon that prevented my boot from staying shut. I mean, it closes but you don't have to use the handle to open it. The remote (inside driver's door) doesn't open the boot either (not that it's a problem as it's open anyway!). The really annoying thing is the warning bleep that goes off every time I drive over a speed bump - drives me potty! Oh and I'm a bit worried about opportunistic thieves opening the boot when I've got it parked up. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what can I do to fix the pesky thing? Cheers. karlosthejackal
This happened on my passat estate recently,I ended up changing the "stelmotor". This is a motorised device which pulls the cable attached to the door catch, when you pull the door handle. When I closed the boot lid the catch would not engage because the motor had failed, keeping the catch in the open position. Hope this makes sense, and is of some help. Meadowboy
I have the same problem with my 2001 Passat V5 saloon. I discovered that part of the plastic catch in the lock mechanism on the bootlid had broken. New lock surprisingly cheap at £16 but big problem is working out how to remove boot lid liner to get at it. Have removed 2 screws behind warning triangle and the 2 inside the rubber bump stops but liner still fixed fast. Does anybody know how to get it off please? karlosthejackal
on the estate, once all the screws are removed, it's just a matter of pulling it until all the clip things pop off, feels like you're gonna break something, but I managed not to. Good Luck
