SEAT_UK
Hey there, I've just got rid of my 02 Ibiza 1.2, mainly because it was very unreliable and I couldn't afford to keep pouring money into the pit. So as a stop gap buying a 96 Clio 1.2 (oh joy, well it will get the job done) But in a month or two (all going to plan) I should be the proud owner of my sisters 98 1.4 Polo CL. Its done 120k, and is mechanically perfect, new cambelt, discs/pads etc - needs some body work - lower front valance, and bit of rust. But shes selling it to me for £500 and putting new set of tyres on it. Quoted £300 for body work, but I want to get new wheels (seen some genuine new VW wheels only 14" but they will make the car look better and not effect the insurance) plus brand new there only £160 for the set and can use the same tyres! I would also like if possible to get a rear lip spoiler for the hatch, some clear front indicators, tinted rear lights, and crystal lenses for the indicators on the side. Keep it nice and simple, clean - may lower it but probally not. So where can I get these parts at a decent price. Oh and lets see some inspiration. Thanks for the help guys/gals! Very excited. Si_GTi
Hi mate, welcome to TSN The changes you've got planned sound really good, the 16v models were fitted with clear front indicator units so they're readily available, as are the "crystal" side repeaters! In fact on the subject of the 16v model I think the wheels you've got in mind come from that model too! Here's a pic I've found to give you an idea: The front side indicator units can be picked up brand new from VAGparts.com for £13.60 plus VAT per side, or you could chance a local scrappies to see if they have any Polo 16vs in the yard? eBay is also a really good place to pick some up for a good price, and in fact is the best place to look for the side repeaters too, which will only cost you about £10 delivered (thats what I paid for mine). Good luck with gtting the bits you want, they'll tidy up the looks by quite a margin! The rear spoiler, I'm not sure how much one might be but again its worth contacting VAGparts for a price, if you get a price from your local dealership too you should find that VAGparts can knock a good bit off the cost. Finally tinted rear lights, well these were fitted to the 16v model, but you can also pick up some Hella smoked rear lights for the mk4 Polo at a good price, again from eBay Hope this helps a bit, I've popped some eBay links in for your vieweing pleasure! Polo smoked rear lights clear side repeaters clear side repeaters The only thing to be wary of on eBay is that the side repeaters on a mk4 (6n) Polo are a screw in type of fitment (I think), but on the later facelifted mk5 (6n2) it is a push-in fitment. They're different anyway, so make sure you get the right ones! If in doubt, VAGparts can supply MHW side repeaters for about £12. So for about £100 you're sorted! Yeah is 16V parts I like, the tinted rears opposed to the blacked out ones. Thanks for the help btw!
