mikemod
Good poll, should maybe make this a sticky as people are always asking these questions.
stevie_d
I'm already surprised at the current results!I really didn't expect DSG, cloth and 3dr to be the leaders!

OzGTI
Good poll... Some limitations for the non-european and Brits in that in some markets the 5 door is the only option and the colours are limited to about 5 (black, white , red, silver and shadow blue). Also, in Australia for example, the Monza wheels are not available in 18" so, that means if you want the car to look its best (in my opinion) you have no choice but to go for the 17"s. The 18" available to us are off a Toureg! These factors might skew the figures a little in the end.
Muppetboy
Great poll Jonny!!! Surprised about cloth as I thought most people on here had gone for leather! I really love the cloth in my GTI and the seats were super comfy on my drive upto Oxford today!
frazervisser
I love the leather, the cloth just seemed a bit dated looking to me. I know its "retro" but it was not for me.
mixit
18's / DSG / 3 Door / Cloth / Tornado Red for me chaps. I love it, wouldn't have it any other way
RedRobin
Very, very interesting poll, Jonny . Some surprises in there so far: Cloth and DSG. Lets' face it, we are all very well catered for in the available options (except wheel arch thingys in Oz!).
OzGTI
Red, It would nice to have the option of great looking 18's but I'm not going to let that stop my GTI 'party' for the next three or four years. Too much drivin' to do!!

CMC950
I'm suprised 3dr/5dr is 50/50. Obviously many people ordered the 5dr for practical reasons, but on looks alone surely the preferred option would be 3dr. No? Oh well...! Also, amazed to see that Steel Grey is in 3rd place - I've only seen one in that colour! Oh and good to see that 1/3 of us are happy to admit we prefer the 17's... without considering budget or anything!

[/ QUOTE ] I much prefer the look of the 3dr and am in the lucky position that I don't have any kiddies and rarely have a passenger, let alone 3 passengers. So a 3dr is very practical for me and it's cheaper, bonus
CMC950
Well thanks to this site, and it might have been you (!), my wife has bought the story that the 3dr is easier to get the kids in and out of. Heheh. She's demanding a sunroof, however, which is a bummer as I'd rather spend the 400 quid to tile the kitchen floor!
RedRobin
She prefers a sunroof and you prefer a new kitchen floor! - That's very unusual! Sounds as if she loves driving .

mikemod
Looks like I picked a very common car 3 door, Tornado Red, Interlagos, DSG , 18" Not so bad in N.I. mind you, I have only seen about four other GTI's this year

nutkins
I wonder what percentage of DSG owners on TSN would've gone for it if they hadn't been on TSN pre-purchase... (if that makes sense) Owners waxing lyrical on here is what caused me to nearly go for it.
RedRobin
I ordered DSG well before I discovered TSN. I drove a Mk5 Golf TDI with DSG and was immediately impressed .
TwoSheds
On the results so far I'm not surprised about the DSG preference or the cloth/leather balance but was interested to see that 5dr is just as preferable as 3dr. I suspect there are lots of forum members who don't jump to express their views on this, that or the other but have taken part in this poll so it is perhaps a truer snapshot of actual choices taken by individuals.
