emmettlodge
Hello all, I've got a bit of a question. I have a 1991 Honda Accord with a little over 320,000 kilometers on it, and lately I've noticed a strange squeek. When making sharp right-hand turns, a constant squeek is heard from the left front wheel. It is very similar to the squeek you get when you gently ride the brakes and your pads are worn through. I've just replaced the brake pads, and the rotors are also new. I had the wheel bearing checked, as well as the steering components. Nobody has been able to determine what the noise is. Any ideas? It's driving me bonkers! Thanks!
Andy_B
Take out the pads, use copper/aluminium slip on the parts that make contact with the caliper and carrier. This should help...
emmettlodge
Ok, I tried that and still no luck at all...it's still squeeking.
kerbside
What about the brake rotor backplate? The rusty bit that hides behind the rotor sometimes gets twisted when pads and rotors are replaced. Also, have you tried turning the steering with either front wheel jacked up? Could be a ball joint or a strut top mount?
