frazzle
As the subject says - just wondered if anyone has ordered or is seriously considering the new Polo GTi?
Si_GTi
I think Ritey has got a deposit on one! I did consider the upgrade, but I tihnk it is going to be too expensive for me. The OTR RRP on the new Polo GTI is £14,785, which doesn't include such extras as leather trim, winter pack, dimming rear-view mirror etc etc. Plus the other thing that has disappointed me is that HID xenon headlights aren't fitted as standard or listed as a cost-option right now, although rumours are that they might become available 3 or 4 months after launch On the flip side, although I still think that our 6n2 GTi's are the best-looking Polo ever, I like the Golf GTI styling cues of the new Polo such as the 16" Monza alloys, Interlagos trim and smoked headlights. Also, the prospect of the 1.8T powerplant is quite exciting and it will be vastly more tuneable than the 1.6-litre 16v engine of the "current" GTi. I'm looking forward to the launch though, and will be interested in a test-drive and a good look around the car when it is at my local dealership. I'm hoping that my dealer group will arrange a similar launch event to what they set up for the launch of the Golf GTI (a track day at Oulton Park) Bottom line though, is that I believe that it is too expensive for me
benjie
Is the 1.8T engine straight out of the MkIV GTi?
Ritey
I did but have sold on my deposit now, the mark 4 R32 is getting to similar prices now and is a darn site better car IMO, if spending that sort of money I want something that is special and an R32 would be

frazzle
That's a great comparison. I like the new polo, but given the choice of a 2-3 year old R32, Cupra R, Golf Anniversary, etc, it wouldn't even consider the polo. And you are right - while the new one looks good, ours is still the best - especially in red

AndyWoodall
So has anybody got an order in yet? I am keeping an eye out for one here in France, have yet to spot one, but am looking forward to, I like the look of them. Price (I'd take the Golf for slightly more money thanks), standard power output and the lack of specific options dampen my hopes for it.
