Some people said the OEM filters were actually of a good quality and in one instance the after market air filter reduced performance. RedRobin Posted March 24, 2006 Report Share Posted March 24, 2006 Carbonio are currently testing a carbonfiber Air Intake for the Mk5 GTI on cars and should have data in a few weeks but it would be best not to hold our breath waiting. stevie_d Posted March 24, 2006 Report Share Posted March 24, 2006 From what I've been told, and confirmed by above, you won't see any seat of your pants performance increase. You may get a few more horsies on the dyno run, especially if linked to a remap and free-er flowing exhaust. However, imho, the cost is not worth the performance increase. Plus induction kits tend to be fairly noisy, although Carbonio are top quality! I read in a couple of the R32 threads aboout drilling holes in the bottom of the air box and fitting a K&N panel filter - I have done this before with good results!
