I think you're probably thinking a bit much there mate I'd suggest the only way to do that would be change the dash pod. Surely the wiring and control for the panel would be a lot different?

I'm fine with red DIS anyway, functional and looks nice with the rest of the red in the car

I only ask, as I have 2 cables (one hex-can-usb which keeps breaking and is currently away for repair, and one ebay special which is just crap! I can only use it with version 311 and 409 (can only modify codes in 311).

A quick note on the SCSM codes, the part number is 8E0 953 549, followed by a version letter. I think 'N' is one that enables cruise control and full DIS. But there are loads of versions ('P' is another one I've come across which supports cruise and DIS). My old module was an 'F' (... that sounds like I'm swearing!).

You, my friend, are a genius. I went back in yesterday before the Windsor meet (had no internet access since then to post!) and altered the coding, I now have DIS1 and DIS2! Which really is the icing on the cake! Thanks again for all your help and info, I owe you a beer when I see you

Is everything fitted in yours now? All it should take is a recode and yours should work? You'll get the warning for the washers until you sort it one way or another, but if you can live with that (ie your name's not MrMe ) then it should be fine.

My cable's a fleabay one, and I have VAG-COM 311.2. The trim around the plug is too big on my cable, so I had to remove it so it was the bare circuitboard to plug it in to the car After a few times obviously the wires were stressed and one of them broke. I've soldered it back on and taped it up for the time being, until I can get a cable that I know will fit.

Sorry it's been a while since last visiting TSN, I've been on a stag do (not mine!) in Malaga (Puerto Banus - highly recommend it). I might fish out some shocking pictures and add them to my gallery!

I haven't had much time to 'fiddle' with the car recently, though the last time I tried to alter the coding with my eBay cable, I went into Instruments (17) > Adaption (10) > Channel 19, and it came up with the wrong code, and I couldn't enable DIS.

According the main coding for DIS (can't remember where that is off hand), it says I have cruise control and DIS, as when I took the car into the stealer to have my ABS/SCSM module re-coded, they've done something else to disable DIS that I can't figure out!

I think I'm going to wait until the proper cable comes back from Germany and try again with Vag-com 512.4. Those eBay ones are shocking!
