leave1
I've been having a few problems with turbo hesitation recently, but tonight it got a bit worse. I've noticed that when my car gets to 3500-4000rpm in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, a really strange groaning noise comes from the middle-left of the engine. It appears to be coming from the dashboard, so it must be pretty close to the back of the engine. I don't know how to explain the sound, it's really out of place. It almost sounds like there's someone trapped inside the engine! Like I say, it only happens at 3500-4000rpm, and it lasts between 1-3 seconds and is of varying noise. Sometimes it's a quiet groan, others it's a loud *parp*. I'm really worried it's something serious, because no sound like that should ever come out of a car, I've noticed at around 70mph, there is a very faint high pitched whistle coming from the same location. Not sure if that's related. Any quick replies would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance
lottiefox
A problem on the turbo... When you say you've been having hesitation - do you mean like flat spots or like a spluttering? Guess it might be the DV that isn't working properly and making odd noises....or maybe a split hose? Have you had a look under the bonnet to see if you can see anything lose or split anywhere? I'd say you probably need to get it looked at, you don't want a turbo blowing up...
