Think that 2nd one was mine. Got my car back yesterday. They changed the steering rack and are waiting for an arm rest. Car does feel better but there is still what I consider a grinding noise but it may be paranoia after hearing about so many problems with the rack on this site

They did say two days as the new fitting instructions say they have to leave it overnight to settle and then adjust it.

Slightly off topic but I test drove a TT 3.2 yesterday as well, and to be honest wasn't that impressed. Lots has been said about the gearbox but it still felt like an auto to me, it did sound good though....

Cheers

Spoke to the dealer again today as I hadn't heard from them since the weekend and, shock of shock, my steering rack is *still* on back order as there's no stock in the UK.

Considering my car first wen't in on the 9th December 2002 to have this looked at i'm getting seriously pi$$ed off with it all. Ah, I can hear you all, "Call Audi UK.....", tried that several time's and they are about as much help as a chocolate teapot.

anyone got any contact details for What Car or Autocar etc???

Good, I've got it off my chest........

Neil,

Alternatively give Watchdog a call. They would probably be pretty interested in a story like this - they covered the Audi/VW ignition coil fiasco after all. A little threat like that to Audi customer services might do the trick. Can't see them wanting more poor publicity especially on a prestige halo model like the Cab.

It get's better....

wen't to put the hood down this afternoon, detaches from the windscreen, move's up at the back, cover doesn't move. I flip the switch to close it and everything goes back OK, phew.

Probably tempting fate I give it another go and everything's fine. Park up in town, close the roof, everything is A1.

Come back to the car, try to drop hood, same as before. Not too worried as i just need to flip the switch and it will close right? wrong. Hood now won't move up or down so it's out with the manual and start the old manual process. 20 minutes later the hood securedd but the car thinks it's not, I'm not very happy at this point. Decided to go straight to the dealer (even though the car reckons the hoods not secure) and they plug it into the computer to find 2 fault codes. As they needs parts they need to keep the car in as they're not sure how safe it would be (fair enough), cue the A2 courtesy car. I ask if it's OK to phone Audi UK to have a rant and the dealer say's "please do, I wish more people would as it's not only the customer's that have a hard time with Audi UK, we do too.....". I then spend 20 minute's with a customer service manager saying "I'm sorry but it's upto the dealer to keep you mobile and not us so it's nothing to do with Audi UK", I point out that if it wasn't for the faults I wouldn't need to go to the dealer in the first place!! Basically they wouldn't have any of it and when I asked to speak to someone higher she said "there isn't anyone higher....", did't realise Kevin rose was a woman......

I really love the Cab but not this one anymore........

Neil,

Sorry to hear that you've had another issue. It seems that Audi customer services is an oxymoron - quite apt really as they seem to employ morons to answer their phones!

And to think some people on this board wonder why so many of us have sold our cabs - jeez.

Same old same old same old.

This is what I've been saying all along. It's not the cars (yes they have occasional problems, but so do most cars) it's the dealers/Audi UK.

All my issues have been minor, but the dealer is whats been putting my back up. Fair play to them, once I'd started turning up the pressure/getting Audi UK involved things finally seem to be happening, but it shouldn't have come to that.

Oh and Audi UK did a pretty good sloping shoulders and I ended up dealing with the dealer again anyway...

Ho hum.
