Bi-Xenon Headlights

Hi,

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I did a search and couldn't anything although I remember reading something.

I thought Bi-Xenon headlights meant that both dipped and main beam are Xenon, and the halogen bulbs were just used for "flashing" because of the time it takes the Xenons to start up.

On my MKV R32 which has Bi-Xenon headlights the dipped are Xenon and mainbeam are halogen bulbs.

When you switch over to mainbeam do the Xenons adjust their range to give mainbeam in addition to the halogen bulbs or is mainbeam just the bulbs ?

Sounds like you don't have bi-xenon. My understanding of 'any' bi-xenon lamps is that both dipped and main beam are Xenon.

Otherwise, it would mean you essentially have 2 main beams if you can't flash with a Xenon due to warm-up times!

Have you tested.............. ie, got someone to stand out front and look to see what happens when you go from dipped-to-main, dipped-to-flash and main-to-flash

You should be able to tell!!
