Skoda Octavia -- transverse or inline engine ?

If it is based on the Passat or Golf platform, it'll be transverse.

Audi's are inline except for the A3/S3 and smaller.

I read somewhere too that Audi are slowly breaking away from the rest of the VAG group - there was mention somewhere (either here in TSN or VWVortex) about them being 12 years into a 15 year plan to go solo...

Yes, was mentioned on here a few times by a few of us. An Audi dealer once told me that they used to try new platform changes or designs on Skoda first.

Probably so as to not face embarrassing problems with the premium brand if it all went pear shaped.

But with so many VAG cars now based or to be based on the MKV platform, it would seem odd for them to be so close to a split from VAG........ that would indicate that the A3 would be out on its own!

Anyways, Skoda Octy vRS Diesel in the pipeline. Now add 4MO and DSG to that, 170ps and the MKV underpinnings and you have my (almost) perfect car smile.gifsmile.gif169144-ok.gif
