Jeffers
I thought it was a 55 litre tank with a 5 litre reserve making a total of 60 litres? If I'm right it's a little worrying that I managed to fill up with 62 and a bit litres the other day (yes the fuel needle was below the empty line!!)! Daemon
US-spec is listed as 16.4 gal (62 liters) That plus the fuel in the filler neck, and whatever takes up the space in the top of the tank above where the filler enters, and it's not all that hard to believe you got over 62 liters in. One guy in the US has put 18 gallons (68 liters) in repeatedly, but it takes much patience. Basically fills up the neck and then waits a while, until it moves into the airspace at the top of the tank, and repeats.. for 5-7 minutes. (Pretty daft if you ask me, but it works) ian
belperandy
It does state in the handbook what this is somewhere. It is definitley larger than the other MK4 Golfs which are all 55. The R is either 62 or
rs32
55 + 8 litres reserve sounds about right from memory of the V6 4motion.

The heat from the exhaust will warm up the tank & the extra bit of fuel that he so carefully fput in will be forced out of the breather pipe (and into the vapour recovery can in the engine bay?)
