mattcony
I found a post on Vortex a while back about a company in China selling a "flash" tool for the ODB socket. I got a link to the UK-Mkivs forum and found out they were looking at it also. They were doing a group buy on them so I got one to try, just done it this morning in under 1 min without getting my hands dirty and I now have Roll up & down windows with my key fob just like the Audi's do ! http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2821463 http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/661483.aspx Sorry if its a re-post, not been on the forum for 3-4 weeks Cheers Matt
dogbucket
I was looking at the autowindow module which you install in the drivers door and gives loads of extra features. I must admit I was nervous of flashing my ECU with a box from china, but I am glad it worked for you. So will it close any open windows/sunroof when you lock the car or is it a special button combo on the remote?
hotdog
Does your alarm sounder still work?
mattcony
Sunroof and windows close, when you lock the car you just keep your finger on the lock button until everything is closed. When you unlock you do the same, keep your finger on the unlock till the windows are down as far as you want them then let go. I dont have the Alarm chirp activated on my Mk4 as I think it sounds . You can here it on that youtube video though. Cheers Matt
rs32
where's Roy32 ? kinda spooky that we were discussing exactly the same thing at today's Portchester meet find this feature very handy on mine, mostly for the sunroof closure feature
Roy32
Yeah your right Rich, it is spooky, just like my preminition. Will have to look into this, I've also just got a price for the W8 interior light...... £
dogbucket
after some investigation vagparts do a free program you can use with a serial vagcom cable. discussion on it here as i have such a cable i may give it a go...how much are new ECUs? mb
Good find, I went for the Alientech it is a little more configurable (if you can rememebr how !) but it involves hacking into the door card wiring also I don't like the functioning as much eg to wind up the windows is unlock, lock, lock & if you hit unlock a few times it winds down the windows. benjie
Guys, I'm on uk-mkivs.net and it turns out the vagproduct has ended up disabling people's alarms, not just the chirp. I have had a go using VDC_PRO and the program works, though I can't get it to connect to the car because I have a 3rd party cable - I'm eager to have a go though! dogbucket
yes, i gave up with the free program couldnt get it to work with my cable either
pascalbrown
has anyone got this to work with either the CCMUP program or the VDS-PRO program? If so please report back. If someone has a vag cable handy in Southport let me know as I've got the software to give this a go but not a cable. I could order one I suppose.... I'm happy to do it for others once I've got it working.
benjie
I did it about 2hrs ago and all is well! I cocked up first time and when I pressed the button for the windows to go down, they went up, and vice versa - except for the passenger side rear door! The drivers side rear door also stopped about 1cm short too! I had another go and all is well! I used VDC_PRO - and it worked with my non-genuine cable! Decked
I was just having a think about this.... Do you remember some time ago, when the Mk4 came out, and they had an issue with Mk4's getting broken into? The car wasn't actually being physically broken into but they were able to pop a swrewdriver or something into the door and wind the windows down and once they were done they put the windows back up!! (i'm sure I saw this on TV) Anyway, what i'm worried about is that this program may be winding the sofware back to before they rolled out the update to cure the possiblity of this brake in? Or am I talking crap and being stupid!!!
benjie
No, it's not rolling the software back. And that particular flaw which you just mentioned on this public forum is probably best left quiet as it's not just on Golf IV's. The auto window I have done tonight has disabled the auto up/down (with a key) feature on my car, so it can only be done via the remote now. I've also delocked the car and used those little metal discs to prevent any security probs.
pascalbrown
I think you have done the right thing by disabling the auto up/down via the key in the door method. Why have that when you can do it from a keyfob? I'll be doing the same as you as soon as I have a serial vag cable.
pomme
Benjie, thats a good idea, ill get the guys at my garage to disable the roll up and down with the key in the lock even thought my car is already delocked. Have just heard back from the manufacturer of the kvw100 to this email i sent: ''Hello, I have just seen this thread: http://www.vwfixx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59070&st=0 and would like this sort of function on my car. I know alot of people here in the UK have bought the KVW100 off of you through a group buy on http://uk-mkivs.net but a few of them have experienced problems with the alarm not working after the update. In the origional thread on VWFIXX you mention about going into dos and using a 'VAG-COM com KKL Cable' the feature will work. So i am just wondering what is better to get off you as i dont have vagcom but a garage close to me does but they dont have the com kkl cable, so i would need to buy this, or just buy the KVW100 if you have sorted out he problem with the alarm. Cheers Andrew'' and got this reply: ''yew we do have a problem in uk but we have resolve the problem now and new product do not have this problem thx for your email regards'' so i am quite tempted to give it a go, but will try and see if my guys in the local garage i use will be able to do it with the free program. benjie
I can e-mail you the program and links showing you what to do. Personally, I wouldn't touch these vwfixx lot ith a barge pole - far too dodgy in my opinion, especially given their track record. Each to their own though! pascalbrown
I would do it yourself or let the garage do it. No point paying for that fob thing... I just need to get myself or find a vag cable from somewhere!
pomme
Yeah i found the program cheers benjie, i know what you mean about trusting it but quite a few people have seemed to have tried it and not had problems.
mb
Maybe the Alientech wasn't such a bad choice after all ?

[/ QUOTE ] It depends on your CCM number, I think 1C is fine, but 1J isn't. Mine's 1J and I did it with the computer program. Initially there were A LOT of people saying on uk-mkivs.net that their alarm had stopped working.

I assume you have the 799B controller?
benjie
I have no idea what you're on about when you say 799B controller. I have a TDI so I doubt the codes are the same. The codes you enter depend on the VAG Number in he CCM (found in 46 - Cent. Conv.), mine is 1J0 959 799 AH. Though the instructions I followed on here - http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219402 - were right, the values weren't. I ended up reversing the button functions on the windows (i.e. when I pressed down, they went up!), except for the passenger side rear which was fine, and the drivers side rear wouldn't go all the way up! I ended up using values from the eighth to last post from uk-mkivs.net by a user called aRd - http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/3/661411/ShowThread.aspx - (not the values from the person he quoted, the values he wrote himself). There's also some info here - http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=151041 - I think you should have a good read and think seriously about this before you try! graeme86
799B = 1C0 959 799 B controller. I have been following every thread on the net regarding this mod! I am very well aware of the dangers to which you refer.
benjie
In that case - no, I'm not using he 799B controller!
