rs32
Bit of a wierd question this - but today I've seen a Diesel engine-car that was repaired due to too many overdoses of propane being added to the fuel. The idea was to replicate the effects of nitrous in a petrol engine. It needed a fair bit of rebuilding, and bearing in mind it had already had a big turbo kit fitted + ECU remap, I have to say I think the guy was mental ! The owner is apparently quite happy to do the same again on the understanding that there will be no warranty on the engine rebuild. Is Propane the Nitrous of the diesel world ? Or is the owner just a complete fruit-cake ? By the way, if you think it may be you then fair play, I just think it's nuts
Lee_
Once went in a military landrover on base that had propane injection for towing. Thats the only instance i've seen of propane. Seen a few diesels with nitrous, apparently it work rather well in them.
Se5aScott
There was something in landrover owner international a while back. iirc one of the staff writers had lpg injection fitted to a 300tdi discovery and was getting an extra 30bhp. Lee_
Here some dyno graphs showing the difference propane injection make on a chipped ford 7.3L powerstroke diesel. 90bhp and 169 lb ft of torque. Taken from here http://www.dieselperformanceproducts.com/ without propane with propane
