Admiral Insurance And Insurance Claims

Ok,

Someone hit my car minor damage to bumper car drivable(no panel damage) requires a new bumper, person who hit me wanted to go through insurance, I'm with Admiral and made a non fault claim. They told me to take the car in on to thier local insurance approved body shop on the 16th Jan which I did, however they have been unable to give me an date the car would be ready, they estimated the 23rd but then called today to say it didnt look likely, they were still waiting for part, why on earth did they book me in then.

Im a bit suspious for the reasons for the delays, it seems to be in Admirals interest and not mine. The reason for this is the hire car firm I was provided with by Admiral is a company owned by the group, they provided me a BMW 320d the invoice shows its costs £873 a week to rent this from them EEK2.GIF. It all seems a bit fishy, I just want my own car back as soon as and for the insurance company to act in my interest, its seems though they are acting in there own interests ie keep me in a very expensive hire they own for as long as they can.

Is this standard insurance company practice ?

Ive been quite suprised by how its been delt with

This is the first time Ive ever delt with insurance

Basically Insurers love it when their clients are involed in accidents which aren't their fault. Admiral will be dredging every penny they can out of this claim, including absolutely stupid hire charges - as at the end of the day the bill is going to be footed by a different insurer (the guy who caused the crash's insurer), and Admiral will pocket a large percentage of the cash.

Personal injury is where they really clean up though - i'm surprised they haven't told you to claim for whiplash....

Funny that the 3 series cost that much to hire out per week, it doesn't differ too much from say the rover 65 we had at £780pw or the 525sport at £880 per week EEK2.GIF

BTW had the BM for 2 weeks and the rover for get this... 91/2 weeks while they waited for parts to arrive from germany... that cost her FIREdevil.gif and proly rest of us frown.gif

Privilege has organised a Vectra for me while the 3 series is in the bodyshop. It's brand new but everything seems to rattle already. I'll be seriously fed up if it's for 9.5 weeks!

However, what will make that better is the hope that the insurance company of the twonk who ran into my parked car is given such a massive bill (added to the not stopping charge, and the potential wasting police time charge)that he'll never be able to afford to drive again.

You surely are NOT expected to pay for this are you?. slap.gif

No Im defo not paying for it, the person who hit my car insurance company will.

First time Ive made a claim so interesting to see how it works. Insurance companies have the cheek to blame drivers for increasing premiumns with there dodgy claims, but it seems ok for them to use there own car hire firm and charge what looks like to be 75% above normal rental prices for the car if I rented it privately from Hertz etc.

Im in the wrong business.
