eldavo69
Not seen TDiAvant in these parts for a loooong time and he's had about four cars since that S4. A couple of others may be able to help. I suspect the internals of a 2005 cab will be closer to B6 than B7? (Ian C mode on) You have no idea what he's been up to, after the S4 he bought an RS4, then an A8, then an A4 avant. Then it got mental and he bought a B5 1.8t with a knackered clutch to scavenge panels for his B5 1.8, only he kept it, spent £1000 on a ramp, did the clutch and took the 1.8 off the road to do a full nut and bolt restoration on it. He's subsequently sold the 1.8t and bought a diesel B5 avant with a shot headgasket, replaced that and using that. Meanwhile he has built his own curing oven in the garage for powdercoating parts and also resprayed the 1.8 in two-pack after teaching himself how to do it. (Ian C mode off) Needless to say, he's been busy and doesn't frequent these parts much.
Tipex
Why on earth would you do a nut and bolt restoration on such a dull, common car?
eldavo69
I asked the question too. It's been with him for well over a decade and 200k miles and is mechanically sorted and worth more to him than it would be to sell. He wants to buy an S2 and fully restore that to original concours standard so thought he'd learn the ropes on his own car first.
