My old man popped round today in his S8, so i had to take it for a drive.....naturally! Awesome, breathaking! cant wait to get my 4.2QS but an S8 is what i really want now!

Anyhow, back to the topic, whilst my dad was washing his motor he found some 'bubbling' on the N/S/R arch. Cant be rust so must be some form of corrosion?

The car is a 'W' 2000 model. Would Audi have a warrenty on this? Surely it's not rght on a 7yr old car with 18k fash??

If that was the caes where are you wheel arch liners? surely that would protect from such things and the corrosion warranty should cover that; give it a go you've got nothing to loose. I fear it may have been a dodgy repair in past life confused.gif

Good luck 169144-ok.gif

Dan aluminium can corode just like that, I should know my car was subject to a complete bare metal respray as well as having all the doors, boot lid and a front wing replaced.

Judging from my experience they wont touch it and will blame stone chips. Judging from the picture that may well be plausable explanation as it seems to be in an area that could well get chips.

Take a little while to go round the whole car checking everywhere you can. I started off by noticing a couple of areas, Iended up going to an expert who ended up finding over 20 different locations of corrosion, even in the door shuts.

Aluminium is great at resisting corrosion, but when open to the elements it oxidises just the same as steel panels and if left will eventually perforate. The good news is, unlike steel it's much easier to stop and treat. I agree with the others in as much as there is no way that Audi will pay for it.

Bummer.

Dad took his S8 to audi in teeside. they took some photos of the corrosion and said they'll call back in a week to arrange a booking. they doing it for free, 12yr warenty on corrosion! The guy who assessed the corrosion, was the same chap who sold the S8 to my dad's friend in 2000! ha

Total result! beerchug.gif

Having worked in a dealer in the past I know the truth is that they can get most claims through if they want to just by wording their claims "correctly". Most just can't be bothered.

When we were quite for work we used to squeeze all sorts of things through under warranty with adventurously worded claims because that meant that at least we had some work to do, even if the claimed labour rate was much lower than retail.

However if we were busy it would be turned away as it was much better to work on retail.

Of corse I was not responsible for the decisions and personally would never do such a thing.
