Rustynuts
Mothers car (Y reg 1.4 Megane I think) has had a problem with a coil pack failed, and a warning light on the dash. She took it to the local garage she usually uses, and they replaced it, charged her for doing it and sent her off home with the light still on. They told her that the light should go out before she got home but it hasn't. Is it a self resetting light or will it need resetting with the French equivalent of Vag Com? Any help would be appreciated before she has to drive another 30 miles round trip to get them to do what they should've done the first time. showtime
it will need swithing off via the diagnostic socket using Renaults diagnostic tool the tool is called "Clip" tell them they need to plug it into Clip to erase the fault memory & also don't pay they should have done this anyway as part of the original repair! it might be worth checking the fabrication dates on your mums coils, written on the side under the wiring plug coils made with a number lower than 330-3 (day 330 in 2003) need to ideally all be replaced as coils made after this fabrication date have been modified & are less likely to fail! as you have had 1 replaced you are still likely to have another 3 breakdowns
Rustynuts
Many thanks. I'll let her know. She's gonna be pleased to know it's something they should've done.
Rustynuts
Well, she phoned me just now to say that the light went off this afternoon. 60 miles it took until it decided that everything was hunky dory, and safe to go out. Iwas gonna call her this evening to give her that bad news, but never got round to it. Most peculiar.
