Hi all,

Can anyone help. I have a problem with my motor and seem to be throwing money at it for fun. i.e. new lambda sensor several coil packs but I keep getting the same problem in that in a morning the car will run fine but once warmed up it seems to be missing and lacking power. Once it is being pushed hard it revs ok but low down it is very lumpy and hesitant. Has anyone got any ideas please.

Cheers

Ade

Hi there, yes the engine managment light is on (orange in colour)had a friend of mine put a snap on reader on it and it came up with misfire on cylinder 3 so put new coil pack on all was ok for approx 20 miles then on the light came again and the problem gradually got worse. Not missfiring now but very very hesitant and lacking power when warm. Any ideas cos I have taken it into audi 3 times now at £80 a throw and they say nothing has registerd apart from the first few times it said lambda sensor. A new one was fitted and within days the same fault came up again. Any ideas ? I actually live in the north west. Warrington and thank you very much for the offer.

Kind regards

Ade

Well firstly if they have charged you and diagnosed a fault, then I'd expect the next trip to be free diagnosis as they clearly didnt do what they said they would first time.

I think your best solution would be to try a Audi specialist in your area who will be significantly cheaper than Audi main dealer.

Ditto. I would not accept 'a no fault found' from the dealer after they have taken money from you, replaced a part to no avail and the warning lamp is STILL on! If you have no joy with the dealer i would complain to Audi customer services 0845 757 3340. Im sorry, as you have probably assumed Warrington is a little out the way for me. Best of luck

Got on to audi and they have had another look and they have said that a missfire has been detected on cylinder 3 (new coil pack) & the knock sensor is showing an open loop(new shock sensor) and that they advice putting new bosch plugs in. Total including vat £493.82. What you recon to that ????

Yeah, very expensive. i would ensure that the dealer has earnt your money i.e. have they charged you fairly thus far? and is this new diagnostic conclusion sound? if so i would have the repair done by a nearby specialist. If the dealer has been unfair (previously charged for parts/labour that have not resolved the fault), you neeed to fight your case and get a decent amount cut off the repair quote. Book time for renewing knock sensor is 0.9 hours, replacing the coil and 4 plugs does not take long and fault reading the system doesnt take long either - get them to break down the quote. it shouldn't exceed 2 hours labour.

breakdown was

PARTS

sensor £40+vat, coil £26+vat, plugs £4-56+vat each.

labour 0.6hrs for coil (LMFAO), 1.3hrs for sensor(again joke), plugs fitted free !

1hrs labour for diagnostics £94 +vat

was told that the knock sensor had to be tuned to the cars computer ? anyone know anything about this ?

cheers

Ade

If your in the south east, ill be happy to take a look for you. I am a mobile Audi specialist, Is the engine management warning light on?

Hi there,

I just saw your post whilst doing a google search, I just bough the A2 a few days ago and the EPC light comes on but once i turn the car of and then back on again it disappears and then reappers some time with the the engine managament light also.

I am based in slough i was actually looking for a audi specialist to take the car to, as my look garage want £150 just for a diagnostics!!
