I think Audis will take biodiesel without modification. Its massive in germany and I believe that many modern Audis and vws can take it without modification.

Do some searching on the net, only problem is finding it. Apparently demand far outstrips supply....

I had an A6 2.5 V6 TDi, 2001 model, in the manual states that biodiesel can be used without any engine modification required to the car. but there may be a slight loss in power and decrease in mpg. (according to the manual that is!)

I personally never tried it, but a work colleague had an older Passat and used it all the time with no problems!

OK - the plot thickens (rather like my brain)

According to Audi on page 4 of

http://www.audi.co.uk/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/uk/Products/fleet_sales/pdf.Par.0016.File.pdf

you can run ANY audi on 5% blend BioDiesel. This is currently what is sold in Tesco, and the government give a 20p/litre duty discount on the Biodiesel bit (i.e. The 5%) which Tesco very kindly dont charge us for (http://www.tescocorporate.com/biofuels.htm)

According to http://www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk there are a few places selling 100% BioDiesel, and they reckon VAG have approved their cars to run on it. In theory 100% Biodiesel would be significantly cheaper than normal Diesel since the government dont charge as much duty, although I've yet to find anyone doing it for less than £1 per litre, which renders the whole argument useless anyway...

I noticed on the forum there are some good experiences with LPG. Does anyone have any experiences with BioDiesel? Anything that helps claw a few pounds back from Mr Brown is always worth a look

cheers

Try going to a few of the garages listed on that site and see if they have any bio diesel on open sale. Most dont and only deal with regular customers / businesses.

demand far outstrips supply. Believe it or not if you want to run your car on biodiesel the best way is to get a license from the council and collect it yourself. I have a friend who own a restaurant and he runs his car 100% on bio diesel (used oil) from his kitchen.

He has all the refining gear in his garage.
