AndrewEdward
Hi Folks, won't bore you with the details but some monkey can't judge distance and drove into the front of my GTi, only noticed it today when cleaning the car. Question, does anyone know something that might get rid of these scuff marks, and wha might get some ground-in stains from my number plate? Was thinking terps, but weary of using that on my number plate, any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Cheers
Tarmac_Terrorist
Hi Andrew, I had a similar incident when my car was a week old - the dome number plate screw had the end sliced off and a scrape on the plate itself - very close shave indeed. The opponents car basically sliced across the front of mine. Everything else was ok. I removed my marks by just polishing the number plate with regular car paintwork polish. You can't tell at all now
RedRobin
I'm so reassured to learn that it's not just me who gets 'paranoaic' about where I park my GTI .
AndrewEdward
Tried Super Resin Polish on it, might have to use a bit more elbow grease i think!! I am paranoid about most things in life, where i park is 1 of them. I actually traded in my Mk IV GTi when buying the Mark V and they didn't even look at it, never mind examine it and it had quite a few scuff marks on it. It's just so annoying when people don't look after their car as much as mine and other who actually care!!
JonnyGTi
Menzerna Intensive Polish is great stuff for removing scuffs and minor scratches from VW paint....should be OK on your number plate too.
JoeGTI
why not just replace the number plate? Simplest solution, its hardly worth the bother trying to fix it.
AndrewEdward
Thanks guys, does anyone know how much this intensive polish might cost, or for the last response, how much it might cost to replace the number plate? Cheers
JoeGTI
I'm in Ireland, I've replaced plates a few times, didn't cost more than €15... i.e. relatively little! Any dealer / motor factors would make one up for you.
