...of a pop-up toaster? crazy.gif

Here's my problem.

[VW]

I posted on here recently that there is a knocking noise coming from the front right part of my 04 MKIV R. I'm due to take in into my local dealer this Thursday where they'll get a technician to go out for a drive with me to hear the noise for themselves.

However, I'm not happy because I've been told that I would need to leave the car for a couple of days just for the problem diagnosis alone. I really do not want some VW technician taking my car for multiple test-rides in my absence even though what they find may well be covered by the extra year's warranty I got when I bought the car in March.

[APS]

I recently spoke to Paul (an Aussie) at APS and I'm due to visit them within the next couple of weeks to have the Milltek Catback fitted. I would much prefer to have APS give my car a thorough examination for £45 plus VAT which will include seeking out the reason for the knocking noise. Going for this option also means that I will have to pay for any parts that they replace as well as labour but I know they wont drive my car recklessly. I will be there when the work is being done.

Hey, I'm not loaded by any means but I just have this feeling that the VW guys probably give cars like the R a good thrashing once the owner's out of sight.

What would you do? confused.gif Am I being too paranoid of the VW boys?

By the way, as for the Milltek, what I really want is that unique muffled sound without it being overly-loud. So should I go for the resonated or non-resonated. Which is quieter?

Your opinions would be appreciated as the car is due in at VW the day after tomorrow if I go for option 1 for the knocking noise.

Thanks (and apologies for the long post)

Go for Milltek resonated for better sound without too much volume.

Get APS to check the car over, if they find a fault, get VW to fix it on your warranty. Depends which dealer your taking it to but most of them will be sensible enough to not let all and sundry go out and thrash your car, although can't say its never happened before so can understand your paranoia. Reset the 2nd trip to keep an eye on the miles they do.

Quite correct to be paranoid mate. Left my .:R32 in with my local dealer to check out a small problem with my xenons and low and behold they had put 6 miles on the clock when i got back SAUER0421.GIF. To cut a long story short i kicked up a stink and ended up getting a years extended warranty off them but if i was you APS sounds the way to go mate 169144-ok.gif
