I know normal servicing but does it include things like the breaks. I think they changed the servicing plan on later cars 2004/2005 and dropped it to 3 years and 50,000 miles but I can not find anywhere were it says what is included in either. thepm Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 Well I am a little confused now. Spoke to my dealer and they checked with Audi Leasing. I am not sure why Audi Leasing because I own the car but they said that they look after all servicing and warranty requests. They say the 5 year 75,000 service plan was taken out for just one year! Now would have thought a 5 year plan would last for, well 5 years. They suggested I ring Audi to double check which I will do tomorrow. Anyone come across this issue before? Chris_B Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 It's apparently been known for Audi to take used cars with the 5-year plan on them in from dealers who get them in as trade-ins, and then to sell them back to the dealer network without the plan... I guess if they'd decided to buy a used car with GSM phone and remove that before resale, they'd be legal to do that so long as the car was then resold "as described", so I can see this being their legal way out of honoring the service & maintenance plan where a car changes owners via them and they strip it from the specification. Good luck trying to get any information out of Audi (or VW Financial Services as it may be). Who did you buy your car from, and how many owners did it have previously? thepm Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 I bought the car from an independent and that was the reason why I rang Audi to find out what the cars spec was (to the dealer it was just another "lovely motor!"). So I can not blame the independent because they never said it had the service pack. However Audi did say it had a servicing pack. I rang before I bought the car and asked is that the 5 year, 75k one and they said yes. To double check I rang them back again yesterday and asked for the spec on my car, first item was the servicing pack. I asked how long it lasted for, "5 years or 75,000 miles". So they are at best misleading people a bit Do you mean the original sales invoice, then no I do not. I have expressed my displeasure to Audi and they are going to investigate and come back to me, I have not heard anything yet so I will have to remind them tomorrow. [/ QUOTE ] Only to the likelyhood of getting the original documentation with the car! Sounds to me like the car spec still includes the 75k service & maintenance plan, which does include brakes. Kick up a stink - Audi accepted £500 from somebody to provide that, and it's been transferred with the car, so they're in breach of contract if they don't pony up the servicing. I did ring Audi again, "sorry we did not get back to you but we must have written your number down incorrectly". Yer well, maybe no comment. Anyway, the guy said that he could not find anything out about the service pack and did you have the name of the person who told you it had it in the first place. Well of course I did not but had one better, because I had rung only yesterday and been told again it had the 5 year, 75,000 mile pack. So he went off and investigated again. He did ring back and had spoken to the original supplying dealer, who in turn had rung VW leasing (not Audi leasing) because it is them that deal with all the servicing packs. They confirmed the car did have the service pack. So good news and I have asked him to speak to my local dealer and explain there mistake once they are happy for my dealer to ring me to book the car in for the work to be done. You would have thought that my dealer would know who to speak to, I know A8's are not that common but surely! I have not heard anything yet but looks good, as you say you have to stand your ground. Interesting about the 3 year 60,000 miles plan on the 2005 cars, almost makes it worth while finding an older car because it saves money, not only on the purchase but the maintenance as well. Chris_B Posted May 11, 2007 Report Share Posted May 11, 2007 Well, the service & maintenance pack was £500, and given the cost servicing and especially the cost of a set of brakes for the W12, I reckon I cost VW Financial Services a good £1400 on my W12 (it needed new front brake discs and pads at 11000 miles!). [/ QUOTE ] Hi probaly the best allround car i have had! just back from a 400 mile round trip driven at reasonable speed fuel ave 32.4 mpg , very very quiet,plenty of power just where you need it,build quality way above both my previous merc and bmw.
